Quad Stereo Line Amp

It's 4 stereo line amps in a single package. You can use it as a distribution amp, level corrector, or hum eliminator.

The outputs are transformerless cross-coupled active balanced, so you can ground either side like you can with a transformer. Since it's a kit, you can build it as either floating balanced, for best flexibility like a transformer, or you can build it non-floating like grounding the center tap of the transformer.

Connectors

  • Input/Output: RJ-45
    1. L in/out +
    2. L in/out -
    3. R in/out +
    4. Ground
    5. NC
    6. R in/out -
    7. Power in -15V
    8. Power in +15V

Input

  • Type: Two op-amp instrumentation balanced.
  • Input impedance (standard gain): 40k differential, 20k single-ended.
  • Common mode range (standard gain): +/- 70 volts (140 v p-p)
  • Connection: RJ-45, industry standard, with power input, two jacks in parallel

Output

  • Type: Active Balanced, choice of floating or non-floating.
  • Clip level: +/- 15 supply: Non-floating: 48 v p-p, +26 dbu, Floating: 24 v p-p, +20 dbu, with one side grounded or +26 dbu with balanced load
  • Clip level: 24 v supply: Non-floating: 40 v p-p, +24 dbu, Floating: 20 v p-p, +18 dbu, with one side grounded or +24 dbu with balanced load
  • Connection: RJ-45, industry standard, with power input, two jacks in parallel

Power supply

  • +/- 15 volts, 100 mA, supplied through the input output connector, Studiohub standard.
  • or 24 volts, 100 mA, external power supply.
  • Both can be used at the same time for redundancy.

Gain

  • Standard: Adjustable, -9 db to +7 db
  • High gain option: Adjustable, -3 db to +13 db
  • Low gain option: Adjustable, -15 db to +1 db

IC's

  • First stage: LF353 dual op-amp
  • Second stage: NE5532 dual op-amp
  • For repair, any standard dual op-amp will work.

Price

Kit Assembled
with power supply $75. $150.
w/o power supply $65. $130.
Bare board, no ps $50. $100.

If you use our console, or any Studiohub+ compatible console that supplies power to external devices, they can be powered through the RJ45 audio connection from the console. Otherwise they require +/- 15 volts. +/- 12 volts or even lower will work, but with a reduction in headroom.
