Call for Presentations

The GRC-2015 is soliciting proposals for presentations for the 2015 Grassroots Radio Conference, to be held September 24-27, 2015 at WLPP-LP in Palenville, NY. The Grassroots Radio Conference is open to anyone with an interest in developing community radio, volunteer or professional. The presentations are designed to promote the development of knowledgeable, skilled station representatives who will support their local communities through developing relevant radio programs, community outreach, and engagement.

The Grassroots Radio Conference organizers are seeking presentations on new ideas and practical solutions to the challenges facing today’s community radio stations, be they full-power or LPFM.

Presentations or tutorial topics are encouraged around this theme, especially those workshops that will provide innovative solutions for existing and start-up challenges most stations face.

Demonstrations are also encouraged.

Possible tracks include: Practical and hands-on technologies; Advanced broadcast technologies; Community Service; Management of volunteers; Leadership – keeping organizational teams engaged with each other; Equipment readiness and infrastructure, etc.

Proposals should include a brief abstract and outline of the presentation, along with a short speaker bio, and are requested before August 31st, 2015. Proposals should be sent via email to grc@wlppfm.org .

Submitters will be notified of the final program selection in early September. The Grassroots Radio Conference Content Committee will make the final program selection, and schedule the workshops on the GRC-2015 Web site. Submissions received after August 31st will be considered only if there is space available.

Presentation Guidelines: The presentations should fit into a 75-90 minute timeslot, including time for a question and answer session. Any special audio-visual or demonstration requirements should be specified in the proposal. Final presentations will be published on the on the GRC 2015 web site after the conference.

The presentation material should preferably be in Libre office using any template desired, and any supplemental handout material should be in PDF format.
